Marilyn Monroe home to be considered for historic status

The Brentwood residence where Marilyn Monroe resided and passed away

given a temporary reprieve from demolition by the Los Angeles City Council on Friday.

"This home must be preserved as a crucial piece of Hollywood's

 the city of Los Angeles' history, culture, and legacy," said Park in a statement

Monroe paid $75,000 to purchase the 1929-built house in 1962

An overdose of barbiturates caused her death there in August of the same year.

The home's current owners, Glory of the Snow Trust

have requested a permit to demolish it and erect a new residence in its stead
